SANGY's 'Proud to be Hairdressers' Photo Exhibition Debuts at Milano Beauty Week 2026

Curated by multidisciplinary artist SANGY, the no-profit photography exhibition 'Proud to be Hairdressers' opened in Milan at CV45, the Monx Legal headquarters on Corso Venezia 45, as part of Milano Beauty Week 2026. The show features 29 photographs taken worldwide, depicting hairdressers in their actual work environments—often far from the polished glamour typical of the beauty industry. SANGY, who also works as a Name Specialist, describes his practice as 'advArt,' merging advertising codes with artistic research to shift perspectives. For this project, he applied a DJ-like method: selecting images from diverse locations and sequencing them into a visual performance that questions conventional beauty imagery. He calls this underrepresented side 'the dark side of the moon' of beauty. The exhibition emphasizes the universal gesture of hair styling—the relationship between two people, the technique, concentration, and trust—rather than the absence of luxury. It aligns with Giannantonio Negretti's 'Cosmetica Umanistica,' a vision centered on care, self-esteem, and relational well-being. SANGY noted the repetition of the same gesture across different places, with concentration and pride as the common thread. The show is open until November 16, 2026, by appointment.
