Rollo Studio Debuts U Collection 3D-Printed Ceramic Lamps at Paris Design Week

architecture-design · 2026-10-15

Rollo Studio officially presented its U Collection at Good Selection during Paris Design Week. The collection currently comprises nine pieces: table and bedside lamps, ambient lamps, suspensions, a wall light, and a small table. Each object originates from an elementary form—a pill, cylinder, or slab—that is rounded, folded, and interlocked around a single radius passing through every edge. The designers call this result 'soft order,' a term that aptly describes the pieces. A distinctive feature is that the lamps function equally well when switched off; for instance, table and bedside lamps can rest on a shelf and replace a vase or collectible ceramic without clashing. When lit, light escapes through the seams, glides over the paint, and makes the body appear almost fused. The pieces are 3D-printed in sections using plant-based PLA, then sanded, filled, and painted with a base color and a thick layer of glossy clear coat. Sections are joined and the junctions filled with real grout, deliberately left visible. Colors are also intentional: fifteen shades divided into three scales of five steps, from lightest to deepest. The U Collection offers a solution for empty spaces where one might hesitate between a decorative object and a lamp.
