Pontormo Takes Rome: First Major Monographic Show Outside Florence Opens at Scuderie del Quirinale
The 'Pontormo' exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome from 9 October 2026 to 7 February 2027, representing the first significant showcase of Jacopo Carucci (1494–1557) outside of Florence. Curated by Cristina Acidini alongside a scientific committee, the event will present over 130 artworks, with 84 attributed to Pontormo. Notable loans include items from the Uffizi and various dioceses in Florence. The exhibition will explore Pontormo's artistic journey, featuring masterpieces such as 'Pala Pucci' (1518) and 'Visitazione' (1528–32). Additionally, Bill Viola's video piece 'The Greeting' (1995) will be included. Admission is set at 18 euros. The last significant survey in Florence occurred in 1956. Uffizi director Simone Verde looks forward to future exhibitions in London and Washington.
