Parma Exhibition 'LEI' Explores Women's Presence in Art but Absence from History

exhibition · 2026-09-18

At Palazzo del Governatore in Parma, the exhibition 'LEI. Ritratti di donne, da Van Gogh a Modigliani e oltre' examines the disparity between women's representation in art and their acknowledgment throughout history. This showcase, which runs until March 8, 2027, marks the 80th anniversary of women's suffrage in Italy. Curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi and supported by Renata Cristina Mazzantini, it presents works from artists such as Amedeo Modigliani, Adolfo Wildt, and Francesca Woodman. The exhibition is organized into seven thematic sections and forms part of GNAMC's 'Museo migrante' project. Additionally, there are public programs designed for families and individuals under 25. It is situated at Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, 1, Parma.
