Parabita's Open-Air Museum: New Installations by Andrea Mancuso, Giacomo Moor, Studio Gisto

exhibition · 2026-10-07

In the small Puglian town of Parabita, located near Gallipoli, efforts to address depopulation are underway through the initiative "Parabita per il Contemporaneo," which aims to establish a diffuse open-air museum. The most recent installment, titled "Beyond the Wall – Indizi dell'ordinario," has been curated by Porzia Bergamasco and Ilaria Bona, with technical oversight from Eugenio Tarantino and support from Mayor Stefano Prete. This exhibition showcases three installations: Parabola, created by Andrea Mancuso and artisan Giuseppe Calò; Bivio, presented by Giacomo Moor and his collaborators; and La Salentina, crafted by Studio Gisto. Previous projects include Votiva, which revitalized votive shrines, and Ipogea, initiated by Francesco Arena featuring neon inscriptions in stone basins. The overall project, curated by Stefano Guglielmi, highlights the cultural landscape of Southern Italy.
