MURATS in Samugheo Celebrates the Daneu Collection and a Century of Sardinian Textile Art

exhibition · 2026-10-17

The "100 anni altrove" exhibition is currently being held at MURATS – Museo Unico Regionale dell'Arte Tessile Sarda in Samugheo, Oristano, and will run until 15 November 2026. This showcase features the Daneu Collection, which consists of a donation of textiles from the region. The initiative, spearheaded by museum director Anna Rita Punzo alongside Elisa Bassu, delves into the collecting activities of Vincenzo Daneu, an antiquarian from the 1920s who amassed Sardinian textiles. Established in 2002, MURATS houses a collection that spans from the late 18th century to contemporary pieces, including carpets. The museum has previously hosted temporary exhibitions and initiated the Biennale della Fiber Art della Sardegna in 2019. A new display and interactive exhibits highlighting Samugheo's weavers will debut in 2026.
