Milo Manara's New Show at Labirinto della Masone Explores Labyrinth Themes
The Labirinto della Masone in Fontanellato, Italy, will host 'Visioni. Milo Manara nel Labirinto', an exhibition opening October 3, 2026, and running until January 6, 2027. Curated by Comicon and the Fondazione Franco Maria Ricci, the show brings together works by comics artist Milo Manara, linking his art to the labyrinthine imaginaries of Jorge Luis Borges and Franco Maria Ricci. The exhibition is structured in three sections: the first interprets the labyrinth as a reflection of the subconscious, featuring plates from 'Fone', 'Giuseppe Bergman', 'Viaggio a Tulum', and 'Fuga da Piranesi'; the second focuses on the labyrinth as an allegory of myth, displaying set designs and original plates for Mozart's 'Così fan tutte'; the third, 'Il viaggio interiore', is dedicated to Manara's recent graphic adaptation of Umberto Eco's 'The Name of the Rose', which visually echoes the architecture of the Masone labyrinth. The show includes original watercolors, inks, and drawings from the artist's collection, as well as works from Huberty & Breyne. Manara, known for his illustrated stories, recently published his version of Eco's novel. The exhibition is a tribute to the labyrinth as a metaphor, connecting Borges, Ricci, and Manara for the first time.
