Mercanteinfiera Parma Hosts "Pronto chi parla?" Exhibition on Italian Public Telephone Booths
During the antique and collectibles fair Mercanteinfiera in Parma, running from 3 to 11 October, the exhibition titled "Pronto chi parla? L'evoluzione della telefonia pubblica italiana," organized by Leonmario Moretti alongside the Museo della Telefonia Pubblica, highlights the telephone booth as a significant cultural symbol. The display includes two outdoor booths from Telecom and a domed booth dating back to the 1980s and 1990s. Additional items on show consist of token-operated machines, phone cards, and a Bianchina car adorned in SIP colors. A notable historical image of a telephone cabin utilized in Nassiriya, Iraq, during the Italian mission "Antica Babilonia" is also featured. This mission was marred by the tragic attack on the "Maestrale" base on 12 November 2003, which resulted in the deaths of 28 individuals, including 19 Italians.
