Irene Cattaneo's The Secret Garden Brings Bronze and Murano Glass Sculptures to a Hidden Venetian Courtyard

exhibition · 2026-06-18

Irene Cattaneo, an Italian-German artist, has unveiled The Secret Garden in a hidden garden located on Calle Pesaro in Venice's San Marco area, with support from gallery Lo Studio – Nadja Romain. This installation will be available for viewing until 30 September, aligning with the Biennale d'Arte and Venice Glass Week. Drawing inspiration from Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1911 novel and Agnieszka Holland's 1993 film, Cattaneo incorporates materials like bronze, onyx, and glass, featuring seating, a small table, and an onyx well. Unique glass lamp-sculptures resembling snowdrops, crafted in Murano, highlight her organic approach. Additionally, a large bronze swing with plant motifs playfully reflects her recent experience of motherhood. The garden can be visited until 30 September at Calle Pesaro, San Marco 3921, Venice.
