GAMeC presents Alessandra Ferrini's Sight Unseen for Artists' Film International 2026

exhibition · 2026-09-09

The GAMeC in Bergamo is part of Artists' Film International, a video art network established in 2008 by the Whitechapel Gallery and currently curated by Forma. The upcoming 2026 edition, titled 'A Kind of Power', showcases films that challenge conventional representation. Curators Sara Fumagalli and Valentina Gervasoni have chosen Alessandra Ferrini's 'Sight Unseen' (2019), which addresses the 1931 execution of Libyan leader Omar al-Mukhtar by fascist Italy, a film that was legally restricted until 2021. Featuring historian Alessandro Volterra, it delves into Italy's colonial atrocities. Ferrini will conduct a workshop at GAMeC and a performance-lecture at Performatorio on September 18 and 19, 2026, while 'Sight Unseen' will be exhibited from September 9 to November 1, 2026. Additional participating institutions are available online.
