Claude d'Orléans Brings 'Wallpaper' Photography Series to Sebastian Flowers in Florence
Claude d'Orléans, Princess of France, presents her photographic exhibition "Wallpaper" at the floral design boutique Sebastian Flowers in Florence. The series stems from her fascination with hand-torn posters and paper weathered by sunlight and the elements — layered fragments of color bearing broken texts, mounted on fiberglass supports, that invite viewers to seek beauty and memory within their ephemeral essence. The artist states: "Sometimes the most regal thing one can do is notice." Her attention to decay and the hidden recalls Alberto Burri's transformation of humble materials such as jute sacks, wood, and burned plastic into a living artistic language. The show is framed as an act of love, not a homage, to Florence. Born in Morocco, raised in Portugal, educated in France and England, Claude taught herself photography after her husband gave her a semi-automatic Kodak; she later moved from Canon to digital Nikon. A painter friend encouraged her first exhibition in Bologna in 1973. The installation, curated by boutique owners Frank uit het Broek and Sebastian Bierings, places the works in corners built with precise chromatics and symmetries. The exhibition runs at Via delle Belle Donne 14/16, Florence, Monday to Saturday 10:00–13:00 and 14:00–19:00.
