Botero's Dual Sicilian Exhibition: Bronzes in Agrigento's Valley of Temples and Works at Palazzo Riso, Palermo
In Sicily, two exhibitions honoring Fernando Botero (Medellín, 1932 – Monaco, 2023) are being showcased until 31 October 2026, under the curation of Fernando Botero Quintana and Nicola Barbatelli. At Palermo's Museo regionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Palazzo Riso, 'Fernando Botero. Il peso dei sogni' presents a collection of oils, drawings, and watercolors from the Botero Zea Collection and the Botero Family Estate. Meanwhile, 'Fernando Botero. L'incanto del Mito' in Agrigento features eight bronze sculptures, including 'Leda e il Cigno' (1995), set in the Valley of the Temples. This initiative offers both an intimate and an exposed viewpoint, showcasing Botero's ability to turn simple forms into enduring representations. The article is authored by Daria Castellese.
