Boeri Studio's Hanging Garden Tops Milan's New Policlinico Sforza Pavilion

At Policlinico di Milano, the new Padiglione Sforza boasts a 7,000-square-metre rooftop garden, crafted by Boeri Studio in collaboration with LAND for landscaping. This garden is visible from the cardiology, maternity, and paediatric wards, while also concealing the hospital's mechanical facilities and covering operating theatres and diagnostic areas. The development replaces 11 previously demolished pavilions with three seven-storey buildings and a central block housing over 800 beds, which includes the relocated Mangiagalli clinic. Amenities include outdoor exercise spaces, a green theatre, and areas for yoga and meditation. A public gallery connects Via Francesco Sforza to Via della Commenda, featuring street food and shops. An Open Day is scheduled for Sunday, 25 October, from 15:00 to 19:00, with no reservations required. The project was primarily funded through donations and legacies.
