Barbara Kruger's 'The History of Tears' Inaugurates 'Remember Me' at Bourse de Commerce in Paris

exhibition · 2026-10-06

The exhibition 'Remember Me' was launched with the opening of Barbara Kruger's installation, 'The History of Tears', at the Rotonda of the Bourse de Commerce in Paris. Kruger, who was born in Newark in 1945, employs striking messages displayed on walls and floors, with 24 lightbox windows enhancing her work. The color scheme is reminiscent of her iconic piece, 'Your Body is a Battleground'. The title alludes to 'Who Will Write the History of Tears?', providing commentary on human history. The installation features quotes from George Orwell's '1984' and Aimé Césaire's 'Diary of a Return to the Native Land', along with Kruger’s own words. Curated by Matthieu Humery and Lola Regard, 'Remember Me' will be on view from 7 October 2026 to 18 January 2027, presenting 700 pieces by 70 artists.
