Andrea Bocca's 'La salita' at Fertile in Brescia: A Six-Meter Metal Trunk Pierces the Former Glassworks
Andrea Bocca, born in Crema in 1996 and based in Milan, presents 'La salita' at Fertile, a multidisciplinary space opened in 2025 inside a former glassworks in Brescia. Curated by Luca Cremona, the exhibition centers on a metal sculpture of the same name that emerges from the floor and rises roughly six meters toward the skylight, its industrial materials simulating an organic process of growth. Floor, ceiling and void function as the three interlocutors of Bocca's sculptural works, which intervene on architecture's coordinates, placing them in tension and altering perception so that recognizable objects are subtracted from normality through scale, position or environmental relationship. In the postface to the project, Chiara Spagnol reads this short circuit through the dimension of dreaming, describing 'La salita' as 'a dream beyond metaphor' in which 'reality bends before oneirism and the grammar of the unconscious gives form to the visible.' Bocca works through sculpture and installation on the relationship between objects, architecture and space.
