Zuzana Kirchnerová's Film 'Caravane' Premieres in Cinemas on April 22

The film 'Caravane' by director Zuzana Kirchnerová will be released in theaters on April 22. The narrative follows Ester, a single mother raising her son David, who has an intellectual disability. After a difficult episode involving David, the pair find themselves living in an old caravan at the back of a garden. Seeking escape, they impulsively embark on a road trip. Their journey changes when they are joined by Zuza, a young traveler with an open mind, forming an unconventional but genuine trio that experiences moments of fragile joy and unexpected freedom. Kirchnerová is a graduate of Prague's FAMU film school and Charles University's law faculty. Her student film 'Bába' won first prize in the Cinéfondation section at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. She has directed several critically acclaimed documentaries, including 'Four of Us', 'The Magnificent Five', 'Hospital on the Front Line', 'Marie in Her Head', and 'Ambassadors of Baroque Music'. Her feature film 'Caravane' received support from Filmová Nadace, earned an award at Torino Feature Lab, and was selected for the Cinéfondation's Atelier at Cannes. It was also part of the official Un Certain Regard selection at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Kirchnerová currently teaches directing at FAMU and is developing a mini-series about writer Simona Monyová. The film is presented in partnership with Club Artistik Rezo.
