Chile's Chaco Art Fair Showcases Affordable Contemporary Works with Political Themes

The 16th edition of Chile Arte Contemporáneo (Chaco) is taking place in Santiago until March 29, featuring over 50 galleries. As Chile's sole international contemporary art fair, Chaco aims to represent the country globally, with participation from galleries across 11 countries and six Chilean regions. Notable exhibitors include Fernando Andreo Castro, who has a solo stand after winning the 2025 Premio de Residencia Mac, and galleries like Sagrada Mercancía, Hermès, and Mnwal, which present edgy installations. Prices are kept accessible to attract new collectors, with many works under $1,000. The fair, funded by Chile's cultural ministry, emphasizes diverse and politically engaged art from young artists, distinguishing it from larger international fairs.
