Young New York Galleries Juggle Multiple Fairs to Survive Costly Art Season
At Frieze New York (until 17 May), young galleries are stretching themselves across multiple fairs to cope with the city's high rents, a challenge highlighted by Josh Kline's essay 'New York Real Estate and the Ruin of American Art' published in October. Europa shows Aki Goto's installation in Frieze's Focus sector while also exhibiting at Independent New York. Silke Lindner of Esther fair presents Gozié Ojini and Nina Hartmann across three venues. Gordon Robichaux's Sam Gordon stresses staying debt-free. Ulrik gallery debuts with works from the estate of Bettina, priced $6,000–$40,000, and two photographs were acquired by the Brooklyn Museum.
