Yōkai Matsuri Festival Concludes with Grand Ritual at La Petite Halle de la Villette

The inaugural edition of Yōkai Matsuri, "l'étrange festival japonais," wraps up with a final ritual at La Petite Halle de la Villette. On Saturday, October 31, Halloween night, the boundary between the visible and invisible worlds becomes porous, inviting participants to unleash their inner yōkai. From 11am to 8pm, free entry allows visitors to explore Japanese stalls, workshops, creations, performances, and yōkai apparitions, with a costume contest and metamorphosis preparation before the grand parade. The evening's Grand Rituel Final, from 8pm to 2am, features a grand yōkai parade led by Vespa Cougourdon Ourchestra, performances, live music, DJ sets, and a collective ritual. Maïa Barouh orchestrates this initiatory experience. Tickets are €16 in advance, €18 at the door. On Sunday, November 1, "Matane Yōkai!" runs from 11am to 10pm with free access upon reservation, offering stalls, workshops, DJ sets, yōkai apparitions, final collective rituals, and live performances by Fixi & Maïa Barouh. Participants can entrust their wishes to the yōkai before the passage between worlds gently closes until next year. The festival encourages attendees to come in costume, imagine their own yōkai, and join the parade. The event blends Japanese folklore with contemporary festivity, creating a night of metamorphosis, celebration, and freedom where humans and spirits meet on the dance floor.
