Wikipedia's Visual History and New Baby Globe Mascot Revealed for 25th Anniversary
In anticipation of Wikipedia's 25th anniversary on January 15, 2026, the Wikimedia Foundation has unveiled its inaugural birthday mascot, Baby Globe. Initially sketched by community member Jonathan Ferreira, the Foundation's brand studio and product/tech teams transformed Baby Globe into an official mascot. It has been featured across social media platforms, merchandise, and various events. Designer Sharon Park worked alongside animator Alex Kinnear and composer Ann Roman to create an animated short film featuring the mascot. Additionally, the Foundation collaborated with Kin to produce an anthem film directed by Adrian Yu. Wikipedia's visual branding has progressed since its original logo in 2000, with the Vector 2022 redesign generating significant conversation.
