OpenAI is terminating its Sora text-to-video application and related services. The San Francisco-based artificial intelligence firm introduced the platform in 2024, aiming to compete in the short-form video sector. Despite launching an updated version in September 2025 and forming a licensing partnership with Disney, the company will now cease public offerings. OpenAI indicated it will maintain video generation research for robotics training applications.
