digital · 2026-06-16

On June 16, the Getty in Los Angeles introduced a video podcast titled Our Museum Mindfulness Meditation (Ommm), hosted by Lilit Sadoyan. The inaugural episode highlights Vincent van Gogh's Irises (1889). Throughout the series, which consists of 12 episodes, each episode combines a piece of Getty artwork with a mindfulness practice, featuring works such as Edvard Munch's Starry Night (1893) and Franz Xaver Messerschmidt's The Vexed Man (1771-83). Additionally, there will be twelve bonus episodes featuring guests like astrologer Chani Nicholas and Buddhist monk Shoukei Matsumoto. With nearly two decades at the Getty, Sadoyan seeks to encourage deeper engagement with art. This initiative reflects a growing intersection between art and wellness, backed by research from University College London that connects arts participation to slower aging.
