White Carrara 2026: Design Lives in the City Transforms Carrara into Open-Air Museum

The tenth installment of White Carrara, themed "Design Lives in the City," is set to take place from June 5 to August 30, 2026, in the historic heart of Carrara. Artistic director Domenico Raimondi (thesignlab) leads a transformation from a temporary exhibition to a lasting urban initiative, featuring over 30 permanent installations—such as public seating, urban furniture, lighting systems, and lightweight marble structures—crafted by renowned designers including Ross Lovegrove, Karim Rashid, and Fabio Novembre. Local companies and workshops will produce these works, ensuring a lasting legacy. Additionally, the exhibition "DESIGNULTRA," curated by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale, in Piazza Alberica, examines the interplay between function and symbolism. Supported by various organizations, White Carrara 2026 continues the journey initiated by "Design is Back" and "Design Here and Now," advancing towards an enduring international presence where marble serves as cultural infrastructure.
