Wakka Wakka's Dead as a Dodo Makes Australian Premiere at Brisbane Festival, 23–26 September
Wakka Wakka's acclaimed production, Dead as a Dodo, will debut in Australia at the Brisbane Powerhouse from September 23 to 26, as a highlight of the Brisbane Festival. Founded by Gwendolyn Warnock and Kirjan Waage, this company delves into themes of death and renewal through puppetry. The family-friendly performance tells the story of a boy and a dodo, beginning as skeletal remains in the underworld and culminating with the dodo growing feathers. This marks the third installment of Wakka Wakka's Animalia trilogy, succeeding Animal R.I.O.T. (2019) and The Immortal Jellyfish Girl (2021). The show has enjoyed international tours, featuring puppeteers adorned in black sequins, complemented by music and projections.
