Volta Art Fair Returns to Basel with 79 Galleries for 21st Edition

The Volta art fair opened its 21st edition in Basel, just steps from Art Basel and Messeplatz, marking its largest edition since 2019 with 79 galleries from 26 countries. The fair continues its focus on experimental curatorial practices. A new section called FRISCHE! debuts, dedicated to eleven galleries showcasing innovative approaches and exhibition projects. Volta also introduces The 5,000 Edit, a selection of artworks priced at or below 5,000 Swiss francs, involving over thirty galleries to attract new collectors and support emerging artists. Italian gallery Federico Rui Arte Contemporanea from Milan participates with a selection of works by Nicolò Quirico and Paolo Nicolai. Several Northern European galleries announced upcoming openings in Italy, specifically in Dolceacqua, Liguria, and Chieti. Italian artist Valeria Vaccaro is represented by Norwegian Galleri Ramfjord, presenting sculptures that initially appear to be wood—reproductions of matches, pencils, or a burnt wooden crate—but are actually carved from white Carrara marble and treated with colored inks.
