Visione Vesuvio Brings Auteur Cinema to Historic Naples Venues

Founded in 2024 by Giovanni Toni and Umberto Maria Angrisani, the cultural association Visione Vesuvio uses cinema to interrogate Naples' urban spaces amid a tourism boom. In summer 2026, screenings take place at the Quartiere Intelligente cultural center (June–July) and Villa Floridiana (July), a historic aristocratic villa. From July 3–5, the MUBI FEST Napoli features director Nicolas Winding Refn presenting his film Her Private Hell (Italian premiere), which screened at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, and Jane Schoenbrun's Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (Cannes Un Certain Regard). Visione Vesuvio also programs outdoor cinema at Villa Floridiana (Cinema Street View and Suonne & Ammore, supported by the Municipality of Naples and Campania Region) and at the 15th-century Palazzo Caracciolo cloister. Winter screenings continue at Cinema Plaza. The association prioritizes local residents over tourists.
