Upstate Art Weekend 2025 Highlights Five Must-See Exhibitions

The seventh edition of Upstate Art Weekend (UAW) is set to take place from June 25 to June 29, 2025, with more than 160 venues participating throughout Upstate New York. Established by Helen Toomer in 2020, UAW has expanded from 23 organizations to a nationally acclaimed platform. Highlighted in the article are five exhibitions: Lee Ufan at Dia Beacon (ongoing), the third annual group show at The Campus in Claverack (until November 1), Betty Parsons at CCS Bard's Hessel Museum (until October 18), Modus Operandi at The School (until November 28), and Tutto Boetti 1966–1993 at Magazzino Italian Art (until April 2028). Lee Ufan’s exhibition features paintings from the 1970s to the 1990s and Mono-ha sculptures, coinciding with a Venice exhibition for his 90th birthday. The Campus this year includes eight UK galleries alongside its original members. The retrospective of Betty Parsons, curated by Kelly Taxter and Amy Sillman, displays 80 pieces spanning six decades. Modus Operandi showcases nearly 20 artists, including El Anatsui, Nick Cave, and Faith Ringgold, exploring the concept of method as meaning. Tutto Boetti features 30 works, including a bronze self-portrait from 1993.
