Turin to Host International Art Research Expo in 2026 Featuring Global Academies

Turin will host the Art Research World Expo (ARWE) from May 25-30, 2026, with exhibitions continuing until June 6. This international event, curated by Salvo Bitonti, director of the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino, serves as the culmination of the Italian Network of Artistic Research (INAR) project. ARWE aims to foster cultural cooperation and sustainability through the arts, bringing together 45 institutions from over 30 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The expo will transform Turin into a hub for artistic research through exhibitions, performances, film screenings, theater and dance productions, fashion shows, conferences, and networking events. Key venues include the Residenze Reali Sabaude (Villa della Regina and Palazzo Carignano), Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Fondazione Accorsi-Ometto, Gallerie d'Italia, Fondazione Amendola, Museo Egizio, and Camera Centro Italiano per la Fotografia. The event will showcase projects from the Accademia Albertina and other Italian AFAM institutions, doctoral candidates' works, and the "Atlante della creatività" initiative previously presented at the Italy Pavilion of Expo Osaka 2025. Preview events begin in March 2026, including Franko B's curated exhibition "In Between Places You Can Find Me" at PAV Parco Arte Vivente (March 16-April 26), featuring Accademia Albertina artists exploring human-nonhuman relationships. Other preview activities include Concept Art and Stop Motion workshops, the publication presentation of R-ESISTENZE, the participatory installation "Filo Rosso per Arte in Transito" with site-specific performances on March 22, and the multimedia experimentation day "VIRAL/VOCAL/VIRTUAL" on March 28 at Unione Culturale Franco Antonicelli. Bitonti emphasized that art contains prophetic elements capable of anticipating future societal developments and imagining new horizons.
