Treasure House Fair Returns to London's Royal Hospital Chelsea for Fourth Edition

The Treasure House Fair, launched in 2023 after the cancellation of Masterpiece, returned to the Royal Hospital Chelsea in June for its fourth edition. Co-founded by London art dealer Thomas Woodham-Smith and Harry van der Hoorn, CEO of Dutch construction company Stabilo, the fair fills the gap left by Masterpiece (13-year run) and the Grosvenor House Art & Antiques Fair (75-year run). The fair capitalizes on London's late-June season, when dealers and collectors traditionally gather. Woodham-Smith stated the fair was created to support exhibitors facing fallout from Brexit, the Covid pandemic, and changes to UK taxation on foreign earnings, which have reduced foot traffic and made showrooms unaffordable. The New York Times interviewed 10 art world insiders, including Nathan Clements-Gillespie, former director of Frieze Masters, who noted that everyone he knows is in town that week. The fair is still establishing itself but is seen as a smart business move.
