Toronto Biennial of Art Returns with Fourth Edition, 'Things Fall Apart'
The fourth Toronto Biennial of Art (TBA) commenced on Saturday and will continue until December 20, showcasing more than 30 artists and collectives at various locations throughout Toronto. Curated by Allison Glenn under the theme "Things Fall Apart," the exhibition is inspired by Yeats's 1919 poem and Achebe's 1958 novel. It features 16 new commissions and includes artists such as Coco Fusco and Kent Monkman, highlighting connections to trade routes and waterways. Glenn's initiative, “Extended Footprint,” collaborates with organizations across North America. The biennial encompasses a central exhibition, performances, and a public gathering from October 16 to 18, with significant installations by Rebecca Belmore and Julien Creuzet, reflecting the diverse population of 7 million in the Greater Toronto Area.
