The Other Art Fair's Dallas Edition Features 135 Artists with Global Representation
Saatchi Art, an art dealer based in Los Angeles, has organized the return of The Other Art Fair to Dallas, scheduled from May 7 to May 10 at Dallas Market Hall near the Design District. This event distinguishes itself by showcasing independent artists who present and sell their creations directly to attendees, focusing on approachability and lower costs, with many pieces available for under $500. Dallas is among 11 international locations hosting this fair, including cities like London, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Sydney. The Dallas iteration will include 135 participants, over half of whom are new to this fair, with artists coming from 13 nations and 17 U.S. states, 70% being women and half based in Texas. Nicole Garton, the Global Fair Director, highlighted the fair's growth and its role in highlighting diverse contemporary voices, from local to international artists. A selection committee for the Dallas event included Iris Bechtol from Oak Cliff Cultural Center, Patricia Manzano Rodriguez from Southern Methodist University's Meadows Museum, Briana Salatino from The Other Art Fair, and Audrey Wolfe from Saatchi Art. Featured projects include a satirical photo booth by Phoenix artists Aileen Martinez and Jef Caine, a video installation by Dallas artist Alicia Parham using brain wave visualizations, and a booth by Black Sheep Art Culture Inc. to fund art supplies and studio space. The fair begins with a ticketed preview on May 7, followed by public hours from May 8 to May 10, with tickets priced between $14 and $180, including special packages like a Mother's Day art collecting experience.
