Terraforma Festival Expands to New York with MoMA PS1 Collaboration

Terraforma, the experimental music and sustainability festival founded in 2014 in Milan by the non-profit Threes, is making its US debut in 2026. On July 24-25, the festival's itinerant format Terraforma EXO partners with Warm Up at MoMA PS1 in New York. The event celebrates MoMA PS1's 50th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Bronx reggae/dub label Wackies, founded in 1976 by Lloyd "Bullwackie" Barnes. Friday features a showcase with Bullwackie, Mark Ernestus, Claudette "Lovejoy" Brown, and Wayne Jarrett. Saturday includes a screening of "Bullwackie's in New York" (1985) at Anthology Film Archives, a talk, and a DJ set by Arthur at Slam Jam NYC. Artistic director Ruggero Pietromarchi emphasizes the collaboration's significance for sound art. Terraforma EXO 2026 continues with a date in Palermo on October 17 at Villa Tasca featuring the Abdullah Miniawy Trio, and concludes in Milan on November 26-27 with "Correspondences Live" by Soundwalk Collective & Patti Smith at Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber, in collaboration with Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain. The festival also launches the Terraforma Radical School for education.
