Tarik Saleh's 'Águilas del Cairo' Completes Cairo Trilogy with International Festival Success

Swedish-Egyptian director Tarik Saleh has released 'Águilas del Cairo,' the final installment in his Cairo Trilogy. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Official Selection and had its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. It received six Guldbagge awards, including Best Film. Starring Fares Fares, Lyna Khoudri, Zineb Triki, and Amr Waked, the narrative follows an Egyptian actor pressured to star in a state-sponsored production. Saleh, a former influential European graffiti artist, notes the film blends fiction with real events from Egypt and Hollywood. Previous trilogy entries 'El Cairo confidencial' and 'Conspiración en El Cairo' achieved critical and commercial success, with the latter being Sweden's Oscar submission in 2023.
