Tamagotchi Ring Marks 30th Anniversary as World's Smallest Color LCD Device

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Bandai Co, the Japanese company renowned for the beloved Tamagotchi, has introduced a ring-shaped version of the digital pet. This new device, the 39th in the main series, boasts a 0.56-inch color LCD screen and allows users to care for up to 30 Tamagotchis. Measuring 28mm, the ring is about half the size of the original Tamagotchi, which was approximately 50mm long, and includes an adjustable spacer for Japanese ring sizes 10 to 14. Retaining the classic egg-shaped design with three buttons, it also features additional buttons for enhanced functionality. After two years of development, it stands as the smallest color LCD device globally and is the first Tamagotchi to use a dedicated charging case. Iconic characters return for this anniversary, with potential for secret evolutions based on care. Priced at 7,700 yen (around US$48-$55 / £44-$55), it comes in three variations. Pre-orders end on 6 October 2026, with shipments expected in February 2027, available at p-bandai.jp and zenintcg.com. The original Tamagotchi debuted in November 1996 as a portable digital pet with a ball-chain design, leading to various forms, including a necklace and wristwatch. This ring represents the latest advancement while preserving the essence of nurturing a digital pet.
