Sydney Biennale DJ Performance Prompts Police Investigation Over Alleged Antisemitic Remarks

Police in New South Wales are examining statements made by performer Zubeyda Muzeyyen, known as DJ Haram, during the Sydney Biennale opening celebration on March 13 at White Bay Power Station. The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies filed a formal complaint alleging the comments could violate criminal statutes related to terrorism incitement and hate speech. The complaint specifically references phrases including 'long live the resistance' and 'glory to all our martyrs,' along with criticism of what was termed the 'Zio-Australian-Epstein empire.' The Biennale organization stated it had no prior knowledge of the remarks and is conducting an internal review while implementing stricter security measures for remaining events. Two corporate sponsors, PwC and MinterEllison, have distanced themselves from the event following the incident.
