Stormy Pyeatte's Poppy Display on Las Vegas Sphere for 'The Wizard of Oz'

As part of the XO/Art initiative, multimedia artist Stormy Pyeatte, based in London, has crafted a 3D projection of actual poppies on the Exosphere of the Las Vegas Sphere, which boasts the title of the largest LED screen globally at 580,000 square feet. The artwork, named 'Slumber,' draws inspiration from the iconic red poppy scene in the 1939 classic 'The Wizard of Oz,' where the Wicked Witch of the West enchants a poppy field to induce sleep in Dorothy. Unlike the original film's crepe-paper flowers, Pyeatte utilized real poppies, enhanced with lighting and atmospheric effects through projection mapping. The Sphere, situated east of the Las Vegas Strip, features a 160,000-square-foot interior LED display. Pyeatte's creations merge nature with technology, offering a visual break from the bright lights of Las Vegas.
