Spoken Arts Festival 2026 Line-Up Announced in Stuttgart

The Spoken Arts Festival's 4th edition is scheduled for Stuttgart from November 12 to 17, 2026, under the organization of the Akademie für gesprochenes Wort. The theme, "Hoffnung verlangt nach Handlung" (Hope calls for action), is inspired by Rebecca Solnit and curated by artistic director Bettina Hering, previously the Schauspieldirektorin at the Salzburger Festspiele. This year's festival deviates from historical themes, yet retains its three foundational elements: merging spoken word with theater, music, and dance; creating unique programs; and upholding artistic quality. Notable participants include Doris Dörrie, Marisa Happel, and Angela Winkler. The festival will also honor the centenaries of Marilyn Monroe and Ingeborg Bachmann with a reading and revue. The opening on November 12 at Im Wizemann features Mithu Sanyal, while November 13 at Schauspiel Stuttgart highlights song lyrics with Christiane Rösinger and others.
