Spirit of Welcome Festival Highlights Refugee Artists in Sydney
Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 14, from noon to 4 PM! The Spirit of Welcome Community Festival is taking place at the Community Refugee Welcome Centre in Lilyfield, NSW. This event, brought to life by SSI Australia and the Inner West Council, aims to create a family-friendly atmosphere that celebrates cultural diversity, with leadership from those with refugee experiences. You’ll get to see work from Wei Yan Minn, a photographer from Burma, and Setara Shafaie, an Afghan artist known for her painting and miniature art. Minn captures the essence of his homeland in his photography, while Shafaie's art addresses climate issues. The festival will also feature workshops and performances, making it a great outing for families!
