Soul Train Record Attempt at Lauren Halsey's sister dreamer Park
On Juneteenth, artist Lauren Halsey's sister dreamer sculpture park in South Los Angeles hosted a block party and a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest Soul Train line. The 2,100-square-foot park on South Western Avenue drew hundreds of Angelenos, including puppeteer Kahbia Sada and pro skater Laron Gigger. The event featured funk music, basketball, a performance by the Sisters of Watts cheerleading squad, and food trucks. Halsey's Afrofuturist sculptures include life-size sphinxes and silhouettes of local heroes. Photographer Nori Rasmussen-Martinez documented the event.
