Sony's XYN Spatial Capture Technology Launches This Summer for Virtual Production and Cultural Heritage
This summer, Sony will introduce its XYN spatial capture solution, featuring three components: XYN Spatial Scan Navi for smartphones, XYN Spatial Scan via the cloud, and the XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin. Unveiled in January 2025 and showcased at CP+ 2026 in Yokohama, Japan, this technology aims to serve various fields, including virtual production, gaming, animation, architecture, manufacturing, and cultural heritage preservation. XYN Spatial Scan Navi assists users in capturing data for creating 3D models with Sony Alpha cameras and smartphones. Meanwhile, the cloud-based XYN Spatial Scan produces high-quality 3DCG assets, and the Renderer Plugin supports these processes. The technology leverages the autofocus and AI detection capabilities of Sony Alpha cameras, with the U.S. launch set for this summer before expanding further.
