Sony Music Demands Removal of Over 135,000 AI-Generated Tracks Imitating Its Artists
Sony Music has requested the removal of more than 135,000 AI-generated tracks from streaming platforms, alleging they imitate artists under contract with the label, including Beyoncé, Harry Styles, and Bad Bunny. The company claims these tracks, created using deepfake techniques, cause commercial harm to artists and distort the music market. According to industry estimates, up to 10% of content on streaming platforms may be fraudulent. Victoria Oakley, CEO of the IFPI, has called on streaming services to implement tools to detect fake or AI-generated music upon upload.
