Skylum Shuts Down AI Portrait Editor Aperty on November 4, Breaking Five-Year Update Promise
On November 4, Skylum will shut down its AI portrait editing application, Aperty, despite having committed to five years of updates at its launch in 2024. The company communicated via email that it intends to concentrate on Luminar, which incorporates Aperty's functionalities. Users of Aperty can still utilize the software, but no further updates will be provided. The lifetime licenses were priced at $250, and a roadmap for 2025 was promised but never materialized. The last software update occurred in March, following one in January. The cessation of support was first indicated on September 20 when Aperty was removed from sale. Skylum has not confirmed whether Aperty features will transition to Luminar or addressed the unmet update promises, having faced criticism for similar issues in 2021.
