Sky Arte series recreates lost masterpieces by Klimt, Vermeer, and Sutherland

On June 22, Sky Arte will air three episodes of the series "Il mistero dei capolavori perduti" (The Mystery of Lost Masterpieces), produced by the Sky Arts Production Hub. Each episode focuses on a lost or destroyed artwork and its digital reconstruction by Factum Arte, the international organization founded by Adam Lowe in Madrid. The episodes are "Klimt e il terzo Reich" (Klimt and the Third Reich), "Il Vermeer rubato" (The Stolen Vermeer), and "Sutherland vs Churchill" (Sutherland vs Churchill). The reconstructed works are Gustav Klimt's "Medicine" (1900-1907), Jan Vermeer's "The Concert" (c. 1663-1666), and Graham Sutherland's portrait of Winston Churchill (1954). Historians, artists, restorers, and 3D software experts from Factum Arte explain the technologies used to re-materialize each painting. The series was directed by Giovanni Troilo and co-produced by Ballandi Arts.
