Sitges 2026 Opens with Carlota Pereda's 'Found Alive', Luc Besson's 'Father Joe' and Kevin Bacon's 'Family Movie'
The 59th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia kicked off with the debut of 'Found Alive', directed by Carlota Pereda and starring Chloë Grace Moretz as Reeve LeClaire, a former kidnapping victim on a mission to rescue others. Although Moretz delivers a compelling performance, the film has been criticized for its forced scenarios and plot inconsistencies, drawing comparisons to 'The Silence of the Lambs'. In the Òrbita section, Luc Besson's 'Father Joe', helmed by Barthélémy Grossmann and featuring Kiefer Sutherland, portrays a priest acting as a vigilante amid a drug conflict, reminiscent of 'Léon: The Professional'. Kevin Bacon was honored with the Gran Premi Honorífic for 'Family Movie', which includes his family and a self-referential concept, yet feels outdated.
