Sinsal Festival reinvents live music with secret lineup and island venue

The Sinsal SON Estrella Galicia Festival, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will feature 30 bands from 12 countries across two weekends in July and August 2025. The festival maintains its signature secrecy: the lineup is revealed only upon arrival. The first weekend (July 24-26) connects Vigo and San Simón Island, with opening concerts at the Planetario del Instituto Marítimo Pesqueiro do Atlántico and the cámara semianecoica of the Universidade de Vigo. The second weekend (July 31-August 2) extends to Braga, Portugal, in collaboration with Festival Semibreve, covering industrial heritage spaces in Vigo, the Real Mosteiro de Oia, and the Portuguese Way. The festival includes 15 premieres (10 national, 5 in Galicia), with confirmed acts including Las Nietas del Charli, Tomás Alvarenga, Alcrud3, María Rodés, and Alondra Bentley. It is considered one of Spain's top 10 music festivals and takes place on San Simón Island, a Bien de Interés Cultural site with a layered history as a medieval poetic inspiration, 19th-century lazaretto, and 1936 concentration camp. The festival also runs a sustainability initiative #sinsalsenrastro based on the 3Rs, eliminating traditional bins and centralizing waste at the Punto R, where plastic cups are recycled into Christmas decorations. Tickets for Saturday July 25 are sold out; others remain available.
