Shenzhen Unveils China's Initial 10,000-Card AI Computing Cluster Using Domestic Chips
Shenzhen has launched China's inaugural 10,000-card artificial intelligence computing cluster, powered by domestically produced chips. The facility, activated recently, utilizes Huawei's Ascend 910C AI processors and provides 11,000 petaflops of computing performance. This development is part of a national initiative to advance homegrown technology. Combined with an earlier 3,000-petaflop cluster from the previous year, which was fully reserved, the total capacity now reaches 14,000 petaflops. According to the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, nearly 50 entities have entered into framework agreements for computing power with the new cluster, resulting in a combined booking rate of 92% across both phases. Zhang Luncheng, vice-president of robotics company X Square Robot, noted that enhancements in Shenzhen's computing infrastructure have established the city as a leading center in this field. The activation underscores efforts to reduce reliance on foreign technology and boost local innovation in AI capabilities.
