Shane Akeroyd launches digital platform for moving-image art collection with 200+ works

In 2023, Shane Akeroyd, a tech financier from Hong Kong, introduced the Akeroyd Collection, a digital platform that features more than 200 moving-image artworks from his extensive 1,500-piece collection. This platform highlights creations by influential figures such as Joan Jonas, as well as contemporary talents like Derek Jarman, Jeremy Deller, and Martine Syms. Functioning as a virtual museum, it offers rotating exhibitions and critical essays. Akeroyd also lends pieces to institutions, including a video by Yee I-Lann at Singapore's ArtScience Museum, and contributes to various art organizations. He has committed a five-year donation to Tate and funds the associate curator position at the British Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. The collection comprises 15 percent of his total holdings, emphasizing moving-image art.
