Seungjin Yang Brings Epoxy-Resin Balloon Furniture to PAD London 2026

festival-fair · 2026-10-10

From 13 to 18 October 2026, Korean artist Seungjin Yang will present a sofa, two armchairs, and two stools at PAD London, Berkeley Square, in Booth B22 with Gallery LVS & Craft. These items belong to his 'Blowing Series,' which features furniture made from inflated balloons encased in epoxy resin for structural support. Yang devised this innovative method during his studies at Hongik University in Seoul. His inaugural balloon was acquired in Korea for lighting purposes before he explored its durability for seating. Each creation requires approximately two weeks to finish. His work has been displayed at numerous museums and design exhibitions, including the Seoul Design Festival in 2013, where attendees were initially reluctant to use his pieces.
