Sempre Più Fuori Festival Returns to Rome for Sixth Edition

The sixth edition of Sempre Più Fuori festival is underway in Rome until July 17, 2026, across four venues: Accademia Tedesca di Villa Massimo, Goethe-Institut, Cimitero Monumentale del Verano, and Spazio Rossellini. Founded and directed by Antonino Pirillo and Giorgio Andriani, the festival blends theater, dance, music, cinema, literature, performance, and photography, rejecting genre hierarchies. The program includes international choreographic research by Marina Otero, a living archive of Motus' 35 years, and sensory experiences like 'Cena al buio' curated with the Unione Ciechi e Ipovedenti. Opening night featured Emma Dante's 'I fantasmi di Basile' in its Roman premiere, after her debut at the 54th Biennale Teatro di Venezia where she received the Leone d'Oro alla carriera. The work draws from Giambattista Basile's 'Lo cunto de li cunti'. Marina Otero presents a confessional piece addressing censorship she faced for using words 'genocide' and 'Free Palestine' in a previous show, incorporating boxing training, video, and frantic runs into a metatheatrical love story.
