Santa Fe Invitational Contemporary Art Fair to Debut in April 2027

Scheduled for April 8–11 at the Santa Fe Convention Center, the Santa Fe Invitational is a new contemporary art fair and cultural summit. Entrepreneur Michael Stein, who owns Tesuque Village Market, has established this event, which is curated by Michael Phelan, the founder of the Marfa Invitational. The fair seeks to enhance Santa Fe’s reputation as a hub for artists and collectors, drawing on the city’s rich artistic history, including figures like Georgia O’Keeffe, Bruce Nauman, and Agnes Martin. Highlights include discussions featuring critic Jerry Saltz and designer Cynthia Rowley, alongside satellite exhibitions, performances, and private tours. Collaborations involve SITE Santa Fe, the Institute of American Indian Arts, and the local lowrider community. Phelan characterizes the initiative as a “cultural summit” aimed at fostering connections among collectors, while Stein notes it stems from his extensive experience in community building.
